In accordance with the instructions proposed by the leaders of Shanghai Municipal Government and the deployment of Shanghai Agriculture Commission, Shanghai Western Suburb International Trading Center for Agricultural Products (Xijiao International for short) is supposed to function as the distributing center for agricultural products from Taiwan and play a role of port for distributing agricultural products.
Based on extensive researches, Xijiao International has put forward the development scheme of the distributing center for agricultural products from Taiwan, which is carried out in two steps. The first step is to establish the trading hall for agricultural products from Taiwan in Phase One, Xijiao International in order to gain experience after trial operation. Step two, a specialized venue should be left in the follow-up for the construction of Shanghai Logistics Trading Center for Taiwan’s agricultural products on both sides of the Straits.
At present, Xijiao International has completed the layout and functional design of the Taiwan Trading Hall, Phase one. The hall will be shaped into a relatively closed market area with a total construction area of more than 10,000 square meters, accounting for about 20% of the commercial area of Phase One. At the same time, it will be equipped with a full range of market functions, such as trading, office, cold storage, fruit ripening, customs inspection, etc, to ensure the one-stop convenience, security, management and service of transactions in agricultural products.
Xijiao International will do its best to promote the operation and sales of Taiwan agricultural products in mainland China in order to enhance its competitive edge and expand its development space, contributing to the technological exchange and industrial cooperation of agricultural economy to benefit the compatriots on both sides of the Straits.
